Upon completion of this module, you should be able to know the parts of a volcano and distinguish between an effusive eruption and an explosive eruption. A volcano is a vent that connects magma (molten rock) from within the Earth’s crust to the Earth’s surface. An established volcano can include the surrounding cone of erupted material, a magma chamber, layers of ashes, a parasitic cone, a vent, and a crater.
